3 Days Golden Triangle Tour

A 3 day, 2 night Golden Triangle tour from Delhi to Agra and Jaipur. Private AC car, driver, local guides and sunrise at the Taj Mahal.

3 Days Golden Triangle Tour

Duration: 2 Nights / 3 Days
Destinations Covered: Delhi → Agra → Jaipur → Delhi

The Golden Triangle tour is India’s most popular first route, linking Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, three cities about 230 to 270 km apart. In 3 days you see the Mughal monuments of Delhi, the Taj Mahal in Agra, and the forts and palaces of Jaipur in Rajasthan.

This 3 days Golden Triangle tour is the short version. It suits travellers on a stopover, people with a tight work schedule, and first-time visitors who want the main sights without a week on the road. The days are full, and the driving is real: about four hours from Delhi to Agra and about five from Agra to Jaipur. We plan the order of stops so you spend your time at the monuments and not in traffic.

You travel in a private air-conditioned car with a driver for the whole trip, and a local guide meets you in each city. Because the car is not shared, you can stay longer at a place you like or skip a stop you do not care about.

Tour Highlights

  • Delhi: Old Delhi (Red Fort exterior, Jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk) and New Delhi (India Gate, Humayun’s Tomb).
  • Taj Mahal, Agra: Visit at sunrise for softer light and smaller crowds.
  • Agra Fort: Red sandstone Mughal fort with a distant view of the Taj.
  • Abhaneri Stepwell: Chand Baori, a deep stepwell and an easy 30–40 minute stop on the way to Jaipur.
  • Amber Fort, Jaipur: Hilltop fort with the Sheesh Mahal mirror hall.
  • City Palace and Jantar Mantar: Royal palace museum and an open-air stone observatory.
  • Hawa Mahal and Bazaars: Pink sandstone facade, plus shops for textiles, silver, pottery and leather shoes.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Delhi sightseeing and drive to Agra
We pick you up from your hotel or the airport in Delhi in the morning. If you land late at night, we can start the next morning and move the first night's stay to Delhi, but that makes the schedule tighter, so tell us your flight time when you book.

The day starts in Old Delhi. We stop at the Red Fort for photos from outside and then walk or take a cycle rickshaw through Chandni Chowk toward Jama Masjid. The mosque is one of the largest in India. Dress modestly, and expect to remove your shoes. The market is crowded and loud, and some people love it while others find it too much. Your guide will keep you moving at a pace you are comfortable with.

From there we drive into New Delhi. We pass India Gate and the President's House and stop for a few minutes at each for photos. Then we go to Humayun's Tomb, which is quieter and has large lawns. It is a good place to slow down for a bit.

After lunch, we leave for Agra. The Yamuna Expressway makes the drive about three and a half to four hours in normal traffic. We check you in at your hotel in the early evening. You can rest, eat dinner at the hotel or walk to a nearby restaurant. If you want to see the Taj Mahal from a distance at sunset, your driver can take you to a viewpoint across the river, called Mehtab Bagh, for a small extra cost in entry fees.

Overnight in Agra.

Day 2: Taj Mahal at sunrise, Agra Fort, drive to Jaipur
Wake up early. We leave the hotel before sunrise so you are at the Taj Mahal gate when it opens. Security lines can be long, and only a few items are allowed inside, so travel light. Mobile phones and small cameras are fine. Tripods, food and large bags are not.

Your guide takes you through the gardens and explains the marble inlay work, the calligraphy on the arches and the story behind the building. You can then walk around on your own to take photos. Most people spend about two hours here. Try to get back to the hotel for breakfast and a short rest.

After breakfast, we drive to Agra Fort. A guide shows you the main halls, the private audience rooms and the terraces. The fort takes about an hour and a half.

We leave Agra around late morning and head toward Jaipur. The route passes close to Fatehpur Sikri, the abandoned red sandstone city that Emperor Akbar built and left after about fourteen years. If you want to add it, the stop takes about two hours and brings the arrival in Jaipur to evening. We suggest it for people who like history and are comfortable arriving later. Otherwise, we skip it and stop at Abhaneri for the stepwell, which is faster.

The total drive from Agra to Jaipur is about five hours without long stops. We reach Jaipur in the evening, check you in and leave you free for dinner. If you still have energy, you can walk to a local sweet shop or take an auto-rickshaw to the lit-up streets near the old city.

Overnight in Jaipur.

Day 3: Jaipur sightseeing and return to Delhi
After breakfast, we head to Amber Fort. We go early, since the fort gets busy by late morning and the sun gets hot, especially from April onward. Your guide walks you through the courtyards, the Ganesh Gate and the Sheesh Mahal. You can climb up by foot or take a jeep. The walk is short but steep.

On the way back to the city, we stop for a photo at Jal Mahal, the palace in the middle of Man Sagar Lake. You cannot go inside, but it is a quick stop.

In the city, we visit the City Palace and Jantar Mantar. Both are close to each other and to the Hawa Mahal. We give you time for lunch and some free time in the bazaars before we leave. If you want to see a textile workshop or a block-printing demonstration, tell your guide, and they can add it for a short time.

Around mid-afternoon, we start the drive back to Delhi. It is about 270 km and takes five to six hours, depending on traffic near the city. We drop you at your hotel or the airport. If you have an international flight that night, please book it for after 10 pm. We cannot promise to get you there earlier, because traffic on the Delhi side can be unpredictable.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is 3 days enough for the Golden Triangle tour?

It is enough to see the main sights in Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, but the days are long. You spend about four hours driving from Delhi to Agra and about five from Agra to Jaipur. If you want a slower pace or more stops, 4 or 5 days works better.

2. What is the route of the 3 days Golden Triangle tour?

You start in Delhi, drive to Agra for the night, then go to Jaipur for the second night. On day 3 you see Jaipur and drive back to Delhi. The full route is roughly 720 km.

3. What is the best time for a Golden Triangle tour?

October to March is the best time, when days are cooler. April to June gets very hot, and July to September has monsoon rain, though the trip still runs.

4. Can I see the Taj Mahal at sunrise on this tour?

Yes. We plan the Agra visit around sunrise, when the light is softer and the crowds are smaller. The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays, so we change the order of cities if your dates fall on one.

5. Is the tour done in a private car?

Yes. You get a private air-conditioned car with a driver for all 3 days. You do not share it with other travellers, so you can stay longer at a place or skip a stop.

6. Are guides included in the tour?

A local English-speaking guide meets you at the monuments in Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. Other languages can be arranged on request, depending on availability.

7. Are monument entry tickets included in the price?

Entry tickets are not included in the standard price. You can pay at the gate, or we can add them to your quote and book them online in advance. Foreign visitor tickets cost more than Indian tickets, and the Taj Mahal ticket is the highest.

8. Which hotels are used on this tour?

You can choose Standard (3-star), Deluxe (4-star) or Luxury (5-star and heritage) hotels. We confirm hotel names and room types in writing before you pay.

9. Are meals included?

Breakfast is included with the hotel stay. Lunch and dinner are extra unless you ask for a meal plan. Vegetarian, vegan, Jain and gluten-free meals are available at most hotels.

10. Can I start or end the tour at the Delhi airport?

Yes. We pick you up from the airport, railway station or your hotel in Delhi, and we drop you at the same places at the end. If you have an international flight on day 3, book it for after 10 pm.

11. Can I add Ranthambore or other places to this tour?

Yes. Many guests add Fatehpur Sikri, Ranthambore for a tiger safari, or Varanasi and Khajuraho. Tell us your dates and we will change the plan and the price.

12. How do I book the 3 days Golden Triangle tour?

Send us your travel dates, number of people and hotel preference by call, email or WhatsApp. We reply with a written quote and a day-by-day plan.
