Golden Triangle Tour with Assam Wildlife

Duration: 09 Nights /10 Days
Destinations Covered: Delhi – Agra – Jaipur – Delhi – Guwahati – Kaziranga National Park – Guwahati

Golden Triangle Tour with Assam Wildlife brings both worlds into one itinerary. You begin with the classic Delhi–Agra–Jaipur triangle, visiting the Taj Mahal, Amber Fort and the best of Old and New Delhi. Then you fly east to Assam, where the landscape changes completely – tea gardens, the Brahmaputra River and the lush grasslands of Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for the one‑horned rhinoceros.

This route is perfect for travellers who don’t want to choose between culture and nature. First you soak in Mughal and Rajput history in North India; then you step into a slower, greener world of elephants, rhinos and birdlife in Assam. The itinerary uses a private car in the Golden Triangle and comfortable transfers in the Northeast, so journeys feel part of the experience rather than a hassle.

You visit Delhi for its markets and monuments, Agra for the timeless beauty of the Taj Mahal, Jaipur for forts and palaces, and then Guwahati and Kaziranga for temple visits, Assamese culture and early-morning jungle safaris. Depending on your pace and interest, you can even add a night in Shillong, the “Scotland of the East,” as an optional extension.

Because the tour connects by air between North India and Assam, it works nicely for first-time visitors who want to see “must‑see” sites as well as something completely different that most Golden Triangle packages don’t include. With local guides, pre-booked safaris and curated hotels, you can focus on watching the mist rise over the Brahmaputra and spotting rhinos in the tall grass while someone else looks after the logistics.

Day 1: Arrive in Delhi

Arrive at Delhi Airport, where our representative welcomes you and escorts you to your hotel. After check‑in, relax and recover from your flight. If you arrive earlier in the day, you might like a gentle walk in Connaught Place or Janpath, or a simple street‑food tasting in the evening. Overnight stay in Delhi.

Day 2: Delhi City Tour – Old & New Delhi

After breakfast, begin your guided Delhi tour. Start in Old Delhi, visiting Jama Masjid and riding a rickshaw through the chaotic, colourful lanes of Chandni Chowk. Drive past the Red Fort and stop at Raj Ghat, Gandhi’s memorial.

In the afternoon, move into New Delhi. See India Gate, drive past the President’s House and Parliament, and visit Qutub Minar and Humayun’s Tomb, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. These sites give you a sense of how Delhi’s history stretches from medieval to colonial times. Return to your hotel. Overnight in Delhi.

Day 3: Delhi – Agra (Taj Mahal)

This morning, drive to Agra by expressway, a comfortable 3–4 hour journey. On arrival, check into your hotel. Later, visit Agra Fort, with its red sandstone walls and marble pavilions overlooking the Yamuna River. From some sections, you can even glimpse the Taj in the distance.

Towards evening, head to Mehtab Bagh (optional) for a sunset view of the Taj Mahal from across the river, a peaceful way to see the monument with fewer crowds. Overnight stay in Agra.

Day 4: Taj Mahal – Agra – Jaipur

At sunrise, visit the Taj Mahal, when the marble shifts through shades of pink and gold as the light changes. Your local guide shares the story behind this iconic symbol of love and the craftsmanship that went into every detail. After your visit, return to the hotel for breakfast and check out.

Drive towards Jaipur, the Pink City. En route you may stop at Fatehpur Sikri (optional), the abandoned Mughal capital with beautifully preserved gateways, courtyards and palaces. Continue to Jaipur and check into your hotel. Evening free to relax or explore nearby markets. Overnight in Jaipur.

Day 5: Jaipur – Amber Fort & City Sights

After breakfast, drive to Amber Fort, set on a hill above Maota Lake. Travel up by jeep or shared vehicle and then explore the fort complex on foot, seeing mirror work, courtyards and ornate gates. The views back over the hills and lake are especially photogenic.

On the way back to the city, stop for photos at Jal Mahal floating in the middle of a lake. In the afternoon, visit City PalaceJantar Mantar observatory and the iconic Hawa Mahal façade. Finish your day in the colourful bazaars, where you can shop for block‑printed textiles, jewellery and other crafts. Overnight stay in Jaipur.

Today you travel from Rajasthan to Assam. After breakfast, drive back to Delhi Airport (or take a morning flight Jaipur–Delhi if preferred) to catch your flight to Guwahati, the gateway city of Assam.

On arrival in Guwahati, meet your local representative and transfer to your hotel. If time allows, you might visit the riverside promenade or a local market in the evening to get your first feel of the Northeast. Overnight stay in Guwahati.

After breakfast, visit Kamakhya Temple, one of the most important Shakti shrines in India, located on Nilachal Hill with views over the city and Brahmaputra River. You can also stop at other local points of interest, such as Umananda Temple (optional, time/boat permitting).

Later, drive to Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the best places in the world to see the one‑horned rhinoceros. The journey takes around 4–5 hours through rural Assam and tea‑garden landscapes. On arrival, check into your wildlife lodge or resort. In the evening, relax or enjoy an optional Assamese cultural dance performance if available. Overnight stay near Kaziranga.

Day 8: Kaziranga – Elephant & Jeep Safaris

Rise early for an elephant safari inside Kaziranga (subject to availability and park regulations), usually in one of the core zones. Moving quietly through the tall grass at sunrise gives you a good chance to see rhinos, deer and birdlife at close range. Return to the lodge for breakfast and rest.

Later, head out on a jeep safari in another zone of the park, covering a larger distance and different habitats. Kaziranga is also home to wild elephants, swamp deer, wild water buffalo, and with luck, you may spot a tiger or other predators from a safe distance. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: Kaziranga – Second Safari – Drive to Guwahati

After breakfast, you can enjoy another jeep safari in a different range of Kaziranga to increase your chances of wildlife sightings and explore varied scenery. Each zone has its own character – wetlands, grasslands or forested patches – and your naturalist can help interpret the landscape and species.

Later, check out and drive back to Guwahati, arriving by late afternoon or evening. Check into your hotel. In the evening, you may opt for a sunset cruise on the Brahmaputra River, where you can watch the sky change colour over one of India’s great rivers while enjoying music and refreshments (optional). Overnight stay in Guwahati.

Depending on your flight schedule, you might visit the Assam State Museum, local markets or additional temples in the morning. After check‑out, transfer to Guwahati Airport for your flight to Delhi or onward destination. FAQs

1. What is included in the Golden Triangle Tour with Assam Wildlife?
This tour usually includes hotel stays, private transfers, sightseeing in Delhi, Agra, Jaipur and Assam, plus safari arrangements in Kaziranga. In many packages, airport assistance and selected meals are also included. Exact inclusions can change by season and hotel category, so it is always best to confirm the final itinerary before booking.

2. How many days are needed for this tour?
A comfortable trip usually needs 9 to 11 days. This gives you enough time to enjoy Delhi, Agra and Jaipur without rushing, and still spend proper time in Guwahati and Kaziranga. If you want a slower pace or add Shillong, then a longer itinerary works better.

3. What is the best time to visit Assam wildlife and the Golden Triangle?
The best time is generally from October to April. The weather is pleasant for sightseeing in North India, and Kaziranga is also open for safaris during this period. Monsoon months are not ideal because wildlife parks in Assam may remain closed or have limited access due to heavy rain.

4. Is Kaziranga National Park safe for wildlife safaris?
Yes, Kaziranga safaris are usually safe when you travel with a licensed operator and follow forest rules. Jeep safaris are guided by trained staff, and elephant safaris, where available, are conducted in controlled conditions. It is important to listen to the forest guide and avoid standing or moving around unnecessarily during safari time.

5. Can families and children take this tour?
Yes, this tour is suitable for families, including children, as long as the itinerary is planned comfortably. The city sightseeing is easy to manage, and Kaziranga adds a memorable wildlife experience. For younger children, it is better to choose a relaxed pace, good hotels, and private transport throughout the tour.

6. What wildlife can I expect to see in Kaziranga?
Kaziranga is famous for the one-horned rhinoceros, but you may also see elephants, swamp deer, wild buffalo, and many bird species. If you are lucky, you may spot a tiger from a distance, though sightings are never guaranteed. The park is rich in natural life, which makes every safari different.

7. Are domestic flights included in this package?
Some packages include domestic flights, while others keep them separate. Since this itinerary connects North India with Assam, a flight between Delhi and Guwahati is often needed. You should check whether the fare, taxes, and baggage rules are part of the package or need to be booked separately.

8. Is this tour good for first-time visitors to India?
Yes, it is a very good option for first-time visitors who want both culture and nature. The Golden Triangle gives you India’s most famous monuments, while Assam adds a fresh and less crowded wildlife experience. It is a balanced way to see two very different sides of India in one trip.

9. Can I customize the itinerary?
Yes, the itinerary can usually be customized. You may add another night in Jaipur, extend Kaziranga safari time, or include Shillong and Cherrapunji for a Northeast extension. Many travellers also prefer a shorter or slower version depending on their flight schedule, budget, and travel style.

10. What should I pack for this tour?
Pack light cotton clothes for city sightseeing, comfortable walking shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat. For Kaziranga, keep a light jacket for early morning safaris because it can feel cool. It is also useful to carry a camera, binoculars, insect repellent, and some basic medicines.

11. Do I need a permit for Kaziranga safaris?
Safari permits are usually arranged in advance by the tour operator. Since the park uses regulated zones and limited vehicle slots, early booking is important. Your final package should mention whether safari fees and permits are included, so there is no confusion before travel.

12. What type of hotels are usually used in this tour?
Most packages use comfortable 3-star, 4-star, or heritage-style hotels in Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, and Guwahati, along with wildlife lodges near Kaziranga. You can usually choose the hotel category based on your budget. Some travellers prefer premium stays for a more relaxed and memorable trip.
