Black Out Periods for Safari Parks

What is Blackout Period?

Mostly Indian Tiger Reserves/ National parks for Tiger safaris will open from 01”st October 2025 for the coming season. Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh parks( Central Indian parks) will open all together. Blackout period is that time when these safari parks are over crowded due heavy tourist flow. Normally govt holidays and festivals comes together. As there are limited safaris permits in any park so guests are advised to plan well in advance for these times.

Diwali is the main festival of Hindus in North India and it last long for a week at least. Beside govt official holidays for Diwali , Saturday and Sunday close to this festival make more turnout as there is 05 days a week in most state governments.

This year Diwali is on 21 October 2025, so we consider that from 18 October 2025 to 05 November 2025 as first Blackout period. Those who are planning for Ranthambore and Rajasthan trip should keep this thing in mind. We have added the Pushkar fair in this time span which will be from 30 October 2025 to 05 November 2025.

For Varanasi , for trips like Golden Triangle with Varanasi (Jaipur, Delhi, Agra and Varanasi) due to Dev Diwali on 05 November 2025, Blackout period shall be same as above.

For Madhya Pradesh or Central India parks this blackout period shall be from 18 October 2025 to 30 October 2025.

Second Blackout period is the winter vacations from 20 December 2025 to 05 January 2026. This is the period with Christmas too.

Third Blackout period is for festival of Holi which is expected to be between 01 “st March 2026 to 05 March 2026.

Fourth Blackout period is for Easter festival from 02 April 2026 to 06 April 2026.

These are main busy sessions for the coming season for safari parks.

Guests who are visiting during these periods are advised to plan well in advance as Safari booking in Ranthambore opens 150 days prior for slab of three months. Like for Oct, Nov and December it opened on 01 August Last year. If department makes any change in booking process , the same will be updated on our site.

Central India parks, booking dates are out.

Madhya Pradesh or Central Indian parks like Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Panna , Pench, Satpura and Sanjay Dhubri will open on 01 August 2025 for the period of 01 October 2025 to 31 October 2025.

On 01 September 2025 , the booking for November onwards will open on day-to-day basis. Here bookings open 120 days prior to visit on day-to-day basis.

The demand and supply ratio of safaris is badly affected in Blackout dates especially in good zones. Hotels get expensive and cost shoots up for everything.

If you are travelling in these periods then 04 to 05 months advance planning is required to enjoy safaris with peace of mind.
