Important Gateways for Tiger Safaris and Wildlife Parks in India

Delhi:

The parks which are situated around Delhi & can be accessed from Delhi are Jim Corbett, Pilibhit Tiger Reserve & Dudhwa Tiger Reserve, Sariska Tiger Reserve & Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve.

Delhi – Jim Corbett (Uttarakhand) is 250 Kms ( 05 hrs.).

Delhi – Pilibhit Tiger Reserve (Uttar Pradesh) is 350 Kms (06 hrs.)The other nearest airports are Lucknow and Pantnagar. From Lucknow, it is 260 km (4.5 hours). The nearest railway stations are Ramnagar, Kathgodam, and Rudrapur.

Delhi to Dudhwa Tiger Reserve (Uttar Pradesh) is 430 km (8 hours). From Lucknow, Dudhwa is 220 km (4 hours).

Direction wise these parks are interconnected by road like this Jim Corbett – Pilibhit ( 03 hrs.) – Dudhwa Tiger reserve ( 02:30 hrs.) apart.

Jim Corbett and Pilibhit offer night stay facilities inside the park

Dhikala night’s stay in Jim Corbett are highly in demand but with limited inventory of 20 rooms only. Location on the bank Ramganga makes it unique. This zone possesses highest tiger spotting records in Corbett. The amenities of FRH ( forest guest house) are very basic but a life time experience is must.

You must give try to other FRH‘s of Sarpdulli and Garal as well. If you even get chance to stay in Dormitory of Dhikala / Garal zone do not ignore it !

Due to very lush green forest & tough terrain of Jim Corbett, always take other parks from tiger sightings point of view as a back. However, Birding , Mammals & Tushkars sightings are good enough.

Pilibhit night stay is at Chuka beach inside core area. It is situated on bank of huge lake called Chuka.

It is ok to stay as you get some advantage of reaching zones gates quickly as compared to resorts outside. Near gates you find only homestays. Good hotels are 30 to 40 minutes’ drive if choose to stay at Madhav Tanda area.

Delhi – Jim Corbett (Uttarakhand) is 250 Kms ( 05 hrs.).

Delhi – Sariska Tiger Reserve ( Rajasthan) is 233 kms (04 hrs.) The other airport is Jaipur 208 kms ( 03 hrs.) and rail station is Alwar.

Delhi – Ranthambhore (Rajasthan) is 371kms (05:30 hrs.) The other airport is Jaipur ( 03:30 hrs.) & rail station is Sawai Madhopur. This town is well connected from Mumbai, Delhi , Nagpur, Bangalore , Hyderabad, Chennai by trains.

Central India: Madhya Pradesh

Central Indian parks like Kanha , Bandhavgarh, Panna , Pench , Satpura & Sanjay Dhubri are in Madhya Pradesh.

Main airports to reach these parks in Madhya Pradesh are Khajuraho, Jabalpur and Bhopal. Other airports in nearby states are Raipur( Chhattisgarh), Prayagraj & Varanasi ( Uttar Pradesh).

Jabalpur airport is connected from Mumbai , Delhi & south India . Khajuraho airport is connected from Delhi & Varanasi ( well-connected from east & north east India). Beside this, these parks are well connected by overnight trains from Delhi & Agra. From Mumbai this train journey gets 15-18 hrs.

Jabalpur – Kanha is 130 kms ( 03 hrs.). Jabalpur & Katni are nearest rail station.

Nagpur – Kanha is 250 kms ( 05 hrs.) . Nagpur has more flights as compared to Jabalpur.

Raipur – Kanha is 180 Kms ( 04 hrs.).

Khajuraho – Panna is 30 Kms ( 40 Minutes) . Nearest rail station is Khajuraho & Jhansi . Jhansi is well connected with Premium trains from Delhi ( 08 hrs.). From Jhansi Panna Tiger reserve is 03 hrs. drive.

Allahabad / Prayagraj – Panna is 241 Kms (05 hrs.).

Varanasi to Panna is 351 kms (06 hrs.).

Jabalpur to Panna is 216 kms ( 05 hrs.)

Jabalpur – Bandhavgarh is 170 kms ( 04 hrs.) . Beside Jabalpur , Katni rail station is 100 kms ( 02
hrs.) & Umaria rail station is 35 Kms ( 01 hr.)

Jabalpur – Sanjay Dhubri is 288 kms ( 05:30 hrs.).

Allahabad/ Pryagraj – Sanjay Dhubri is 200 kms ( 04:30 hrs.). Rewa rail station is 70 kms (1:30 hrs.). Beohari rails station is 25 kms ( 30 minutes).

Bhopal – Satpura is 140 kms ( 03 hrs). Itarsi is nearest rail station 1:30 hrs apart.
